Alaska Christmas: The Christmas Spectacular (12-21-2022)

We heard about The Christmas Spectacular playing at the Glenn Massay Theater in Palmer. Favorite holiday songs!  Hilarious and entertaining! Go we must!

On the way to Palmer (42 miles northeast of Anchorage in the Matanuska valley) we stopped for dinner at the Noisy Goose.   The Noisy Goose is known for its homestyle meals and rustic decor.  The walls are covered with signs containing quaint, and perhaps a few pithy, expressions.  And there were MOOSE decorations!

The Moose is the decoration, not me!

BB and I had the Chicken Fried Chicken.  Our waitress compared it to Chick-Fil-A.  We didn't see the comparison; however, still enjoyed the meal.  The senior citizen discount started at 62!  Another reason to like this place.

The wind picked up while we were in the Noisy Goose.  It was blowing snow and making snow drifts.  The wind didn't stop us from getting to the theater.

Start time for the show was 7:00pm.  We arrived at the Theater around 6:30pm.  Santa and Miss Alaska High School kept us entertained until the doors to the theater opened at 7:20.

Based on the advertisement I was hoping to hear all my favorite Christmas songs.  Did that happen?  No.  There were a few, but the majority seemed to be ones that I wasn't familiar with.   Have you heard the one about how snowmen make bad boy friends?

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer might not be what I consider a Christmas classic; however, I can see the humor in the song.  The skit put on with this song turned the accident into an all-out assault.  Rudolph knocked Grandma to the ground and punched and kicked her while she was down.  I just didn't see the Christmas spirit in a skit that portrays a senior citizen getting beat to a pulp.

For me the highlights of the show were the songs sung by the Wasilla and Colony High School Choirs.  The song choices were favorites and the choirs sounded great!  There just weren't enough of them.

It was windy on the ride home. And we saw a moose!
